Key terms used throughout AtlasCore documentation, ordered alphabetically.

TermDefinition
AASB S2Australian Accounting Standards Board Standard S2 — Climate-related Financial Disclosures. Mandatory for Australian entities from 2025.
ABNAustralian Business Number — 11-digit unique identifier for Australian entities. Primary key for entity resolution.
ABRAustralian Business Register — government register of ABN holders. Used for entity data and resolution.
ACCUAustralian Carbon Credit Unit — tradeable carbon offset unit issued under the Emissions Reduction Fund. Registry data used for market-based evidence cross-validation.
AEMOAustralian Energy Market Operator. Source of NEM grid emission intensity data (CDEII).
ANZSICAustralian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification. Used for sector classification derived from CER NGER self-reported industry codes.
AR5 / AR6IPCC Assessment Report 5 / 6. Define Global Warming Potential (GWP) values for greenhouse gases. NGA uses AR5 natively; AR6 transforms available on request.
BOM SILOBureau of Meteorology Scientific Information for Land Owners — gridded climate data at ~5km resolution.
CAGRCompound Annual Growth Rate — used in emissions trend analysis to express multi-year emission trajectory.
CDEIICarbon Dioxide Equivalent Intensity Index — AEMO's measure of grid emission intensity.
CERClean Energy Regulator — administers NGER, ACCU, and LGC registries.
CMIP6Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 — climate model ensemble used for scenario projections (RCP 2.6/4.5/8.5).
CO2-eCarbon dioxide equivalent — standardised unit expressing the climate impact of all greenhouse gases relative to CO2.
ConnectorStateless source adapter that extracts data from a government API, spreadsheet, or database. Layer 1 of the architecture.
DatasetA normalised, versioned collection of records from one upstream source. Identified by a globally unique slug.
Dataset slugUnique identifier following {jurisdiction}_{provider}_{content} convention — e.g. au_dcceew_nga_emission_factors.
DCCEEWDepartment of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Publishes the NGA Factors Workbook.
Disclosure bundleSeven-file evidence package (JSON, PDF, XLSX, Markdown, provenance, checksums, ZIP) generated for AASB S2 reporting.
Emission factorCoefficient converting an activity (e.g. kWh consumed) to greenhouse gas emissions (e.g. kg CO2-e).
Entity resolutionProcess of linking records across different government sources to the same real-world entity (e.g. CER NGER corporation to ABR entity).
Evidence hashSHA-256 hash of canonical data inputs. Enables deterministic verification that outputs haven't changed.
Filing readinessAASB S2 progress tracking across four disclosure pillars (Governance, Strategy, Risk Management, Metrics and Targets). Not a legal sufficiency determination.
GHG ProtocolGreenhouse Gas Protocol — international standard defining Scope 1, 2, and 3 emission categories.
GNAFGeocoded National Address File — 15.9 million geocoded Australian addresses.
GreenPowerAustralian government program accrediting renewable electricity products.
GWPGlobal Warming Potential — measure of how much heat a greenhouse gas traps relative to CO2 over a given time period.
IFRS S2International equivalent of AASB S2, issued by the ISSB. AASB S2 is aligned with IFRS S2.
ISSA 5000International Standard on Sustainability Assurance Engagements 5000. Governs assurance of sustainability reports.
LGCLarge-scale Generation Certificate — tradeable certificate representing 1 MWh of eligible renewable electricity generation. Registry data used for market-based evidence cross-validation.
NEMNational Electricity Market — covers NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, and TAS. Grid regions: NSW1, VIC1, QLD1, SA1, TAS1.
NGANational Greenhouse Accounts — the framework for Australia's greenhouse gas emissions reporting.
NGERNational Greenhouse and Energy Reporting — mandatory Australian scheme for corporate emissions reporting.
PackVertical product layer that consumes datasets. Defines business rules, report templates, and acceptance suites.
ProvenanceRecord of where data came from, which versions were used, and how it was transformed.
Safeguard MechanismAustralian regulatory mechanism requiring large emitters to keep emissions below a baseline. Coverage status is included in company climate profiles.
Scope 1Direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by the reporting entity.
Scope 2Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, steam, heating, or cooling.
Scope 3All other indirect emissions in the value chain — upstream and downstream. AtlasCore provides reference factors plus indicative screening-grade estimates.
Sector benchmarkStatistical comparison of a company's Scope 1+2 emissions against ANZSIC sector peers. Includes percentile rank, sector median, P25/P75 quartiles.
SnapshotOne extraction run for one dataset. Versioned and quality-scored.
SplinkProbabilistic record linkage library used for entity resolution. Runs offline; results persisted to database.
SWISSouth West Interconnected System — Western Australian electricity grid separate from the NEM.
TenantAn API consumer with bearer token authentication, pack entitlements, and usage quotas.
Transition riskRisk arising from the transition to a lower-carbon economy. AtlasCore scores this from sector classification, Safeguard coverage, and emission benchmark position.
